One Simple Intervention to Prevent Nurse Burnout

In 2015 I looked at my broken life and decided to put “me” back together again. It was in this year; I had reached my 3-year anniversary in nursing and wanted to turn in my badge. I absolutely hated being a nurse. My compassion was out the door, and my empathy level was depleted to say the least.

Fast forward to 2021, I am thriving in my nursing career and loving every moment of it. I have found my rhythm and dance to the beat of my own drums in nursing.

The #1 question I am asked from my Nursing Sisters is, how did you combat nurse burnout? You see I obtained my Doctorates Degree, walked away from a Nurse Manager Position and chose to go back to bedside as a CVICU Nurse….. the key here is CHOSE!

How to combat nurse burnout is a great question… the simple intervention is to PLAN! Yes Sis, you must have a step-by-step plan to prevent or combat nurse burnout. I took my nursing career plan one step at a time, following each step carefully. Orchestrating a plan will propel you into a destiny beyond your wildest dreams.

To create your plan, imagine yourself 5 years from today:

-What career path are you on?

-What position do you have in nursing?

         -Where are you living?

-How much money are you making?

         -What experiences are you gaining?

Now come back to yourself today. What would you have to do to get to that destiny in 5 years? Write out a plan, step by step? Research the education or experiences required. My 5-year plan has been fulfilled and I’ve created a new 5-year plan to obtain my goals in both my personal and nursing life.

You can have the career you desire; in fact, you deserve the career you desire. Create a step-by-step plan to your desired place in Life Sis, unlock all the possibilities.
